LEADERSHIP

Leadership Team:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Rev. Rob Tucker, Associate Pastor

My name is Rob Tucker and I have served as Associate Pastor at Suntree United Methodist Church since July 2015.

I graduated from Duke Divinity School (Go Blue Devils!) in Durham, NC in May 2015! Prior to that, I received my undergraduate degree from Florida Southern College (Go Mocs!) in Lakeland, FL in May 2011. I grew up in a small town called Brooksville on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I am married to a wonderful, talented, woman named Molly since July 2016.

I enjoy good coffee and tacos, but preferably not together. In my free time, I can also be seen around town listening to live music, fishing, watching Duke Basketball, or being walked by my dog Cliffe (named after David Cutcliffe, coach of the Duke football team).

I’d love to connect with you in all the ways people do that these days. You can find me on Twitter at @RealRobTucker or email me at robt@suntreeumc.org.

Pastor Joel Lusz, Youth Pastor

Like a lot of ordinary people who serve Jesus, Joel wasn’t sure what he really wanted to do with his life. He tells us that “I had known since I was a child that I wanted to work with people in a significant way.  It wasn’t until later that I began to realize that meant ministry.

I’ve always known I wanted to influence young adults, and I felt a very clear calling that was what God wanted me to do.”  He adds, “I believe my spiritual giftedness is in Leadership which is exactly what I do in ministry now almost all the time.” Some of Joel’s hobbies include playing guitar, beach volleyball, basketball, football, running, golf, fishing, swimming, and collecting baseball cards.  He once biked 700 miles through Colorado over 11 mountain passes in 12 days!  He is also the ultimate fan of the Green Bay Packers “America’s real team” (his words) and has some of the turf from their playing field.

Pastor Steve Schantz, Visitation Pastor
