We are well into 2010 and with that comes the annual youth fund raising auction, Fun N' the Sun. This year's theme is Collegiate Sports Craze. This is a chance for our youth program to raise funds for missions trips and camps and all that to help ease the costs of those trips. Help us by bring in auction items or by just coming to the event. All the information can be found here!

Boy Scouts
BSA Troop 224 Eagle Scouts

BSA Troop 224 is proud to announce the addition of 4 Scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award in Boy Scouts.

  • Sumner Albright created a new Memorioal Garden at the Cross Tower here at SUMC. For Sumner, it was a way to honor his late grandmother, Marilyn Sumner, whose ashes are interred at the Cross Tower.
  • Aleks Bologna undertook a renovation and clean up of the J.M. Tucker Shady Oaks cemetery, a historic African American cemetery on U.S. 1 between Lake Washington Drive and Parkway Drive.
  • Tom Murphy created a 9' by 9' outdoor chess board with oversize playing pieces for the Dorcas Outreach Center for Kids (DOCK) in the Booker T. Washington neighborhood. He has been volunteering at the center teaching the kids how to play chess. Tom will be moving to New Mexico this summer with his family and will be missed.
  • Brian Shultz built an information kiosk at the Houston Pioneer Cemetery at the Historic Rossetter House Museum in old Eau Gallie. It displays historical information about the cemetary and grave stones. Brian recently turned 18 and is staying with the troop as an Assistant Scoutmaster.
All 4 projects are wonderful additions to our community, and all are encouraged to visit each one.
