An On-going CommitmentBuilding a house for Habitat for Humanity takes a season - a season of giving and a season of volunteers. Thanks to the commitment of many, many people, we've had lots of seasons - dating back to the late 1980s. During the actual building process, numerous small groups and individuals from the congregation both volunteer at the construction work site and volunteer to supply lunches to feed the workers. Generally, this is a 5 or 6 month commitment. In addition, there is a financial commitment. Thanks to the community who have attended many of our fundraisers and the congregation members themselves, Suntree United Methodist Church has recently met it's commitment to fully finance and build five complete homes. Are we done? Absolutely not! Keep coming back to this site to find out about our next project! |
Habitat for Humanity of South Brevard
This christian, non-profit housing ministry works to both eliminate poverty housing around the world and to make adequate housing a matter of conscience and action. Houses are built with those in need in conjunction with individuals and groups from around the community who donate their time, energy and treasures. Volunteer labor is used to keep building costs down. Even with that, in South Brevard, it costs an average of $45,000 to sponsor the building of a Habitat for Humanity home. |
