HELP FLORIDA – As we have watched the tragedy unfold in Florida many of you have asked what you can do to help. When you help through UMCOR (The United Methodist Committee on Relief), you can be sure that 100% of your donations go to Irma disaster relief and to those in need. (Funds for support and staff come from the ongoing Apportionments giving of United Methodists throughout the world.)
There are three ways to help:
1. Pray for those impacted. Pray also for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) and our United Methodist Churches which are in the impacted communities and all the agencies and partners responding to those in need.
2. Give directly to UMCOR through SUMC: Make the check out to SUMC and write Hurricane Irma on the information line of your check. Mail or bring your check to the church or put it in the collection plate along with your regular giving envelope.
3. Assemble Flood Buckets (Cleaning kits and hygiene kits). Information about kits is being distributed today and is on, our web site.
If you assemble Flood Buckets, bring them to the church and drop them off to the traditional lobby or worship center lobby.
If you would like to donate money and have someone at SUMC assemble a Flood Bucket for you, bring your donation of $65 to Augie Allen at the church.
Be aware that scammers are using the Hurricane Irma disaster to trick people into clicking on links on Facebook and other social media. Avoid links on any social medium or embedded in an email. If you want to make a donation outside of the United Methodist Church, go directly to the web site for the charity of your choice.
For more information about Flood Buckets,

Please follow the directions for contents for both flood buckets and hygiene kits as closely as possible. This is very important! If you have questions, please email
